A gate, not a stop
Most people arrive here after days of early alarms, long drives and a camera full of animals, without once having touched the ground. So the first thing we ask of you is nothing. Shoes off on the grass. A breakfast by the river that takes as long as it takes. A book that finally gets read.
Then, when you are ready: the horses, the old Land Rover, the bikes, the farm, the river, Arusha National Park a few minutes away, the foothills of Kilimanjaro a day trip away. All from one unpacked suitcase. What you find here is the essence of things: real people, real food, the ground under your feet. Two days will show you the place. A week will change something.

The Camp: eight tents on the river
Safari tents on a bend of the Usa River, under old fig trees the monkeys visit daily: six open now, eight from 15 December 2026. Each tent has its own terrace a few steps from the water, a proper bed, a hot shower and a door you can leave open to the sound of the river. Riverside restaurant, bar and infinity pool. Book a tent, or the whole camp.

The Villa: the whole house is yours
Two kilometres from the camp, a single-storey house of 1,000 m² built around a 32-metre veranda and one long table. Five bedrooms (two with king beds, three twin or double), a private pool looking over the estate, and horses that sometimes wander up at dusk. For up to 10: a family of three generations, friends who have done the safari, or a team that has come here to work on something together. Let as a whole, bed only, with meals from the camp’s kitchen on request. Opening 3 February 2027; bookings open now.

Book four nights or more directly with us and your return transfers from Kilimanjaro International are included. Land, be met, and stop thinking about logistics until it is time to leave.
Only one night between flights? Come anyway. Check in from 14:00, dinner by the river, and a 45-minute drive to the airport in the morning.

Dolly Escape lies in Usa River, between Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha: 45 minutes from the airport and a few minutes from Arusha National Park. Check-in is from 14:00, and every tent stay includes breakfast and a farm tour.
Book a tent or the villa directly on this website: rates are in US dollars and include taxes, your card holds the booking and nothing is charged when you book. For the camp you can cancel free of charge until 21 days before arrival (60 days for the villa). Stay four nights or more and your return airport transfers are on us. More than a place to stay
A habitat that wildlife has shared with people for decades, and that you meet on foot. Walk or ride through the bush and watch eland, zebra and gazelle graze and look back at you. Over 400 bird species have been counted on the estate. This is Africa back to the roots: no vehicle between you and the land.
More than just food
Eggs, vegetables, fruit from the trees and bread from the morning oven, most of it from our own organic farm next door. The farm belongs to an NGO that feeds children and teaches regenerative farming inside the local secondary school. Eating something that grew a few hundred metres from your table is its own kind of grounding.
More than a restaurant
Chef’s Table has no menu. Tell us what you cannot or will not eat, and let the kitchen surprise you with what the farm gave us that morning: local tradition met with a European taste, cooked with warmth and served on the banks of the river. Authentic, because it could not be made anywhere else.

Four nights is where it starts to work: one day of nothing, a morning on horseback or on foot through the estate, a day in Arusha National Park, a day at the farm and the river. A week gives you Kilimanjaro’s foothills, the coffee villages and time to do some of it twice. One night works too, and many of our guests start that way.

Yes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the riverside restaurant, most of it from our own farm. At the villa, meals are cooked at the house on request by our cook; the camp restaurant is a short drive down the hill for the evenings you would rather eat out.
Horse safaris, a bike tour and the 4×4 experience in our 1960s Land Rover on the estate; the farm tour and the tea ceremony in the medicinal garden; massages by the river. Cooking classes, a guided walking tour and bird watching are coming soon. Beyond the gate: Arusha National Park, golf at Kiligolf, coffee villages, Lake Duluti and the waterfalls, and the Africa Amini Alama community.
