Horse safari at sunset on Dolly Estate, below Mount Meru

Day visits: horse rides, lunch and dinner at Dolly Escape

You don’t need to stay the night to spend a day on Dolly Estate. If you live in Arusha, are staying elsewhere around Usa River, or have a free day between safaris, come for a horse ride, lunch or dinner at Dolly Escape. Book ahead and we’ll have a horse saddled and a table ready.

Horse rides on Dolly Estate

Our guide Jackson takes riders out from the camp across 200 hectares of private bushland below Mount Meru, past eland, zebra and wildebeest. A ride takes about 90 minutes at a relaxed pace. The sunset ride is the favourite.

  • All levels are welcome, and helmets are provided
  • Up to two riders per ride
  • Wear long trousers and closed shoes
  • Maximum rider weight 95 kg

Tell us how much riding you have done when you book, so Jackson can choose the right horse. More about the horses and the rides: Safari Rides.

Lunch and dinner from the farm kitchen

The kitchen cooks with what grows on the organic farm a few hundred metres from the table. Lunch is served by the pool. Dinner is by candlelight beside the pool as the lights come on in the trees. Vegetarian, vegan and other diets are easy if you tell us in advance.

Ride, then eat

The day most visitors choose: an afternoon ride as the light softens, then dinner by the pool. Or ride in the morning and stay for lunch.

How to book

Please book ahead, so the kitchen and the horses can plan for you. Send us the date, the number of people, and whether you want to ride, eat or both:

Ask us for current prices when you book.
